Supply Chain Lead

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Supply Chain Lead takes a lead role in planning, conducting and influencing procurement activity, and supporting project/district purchasing initiatives. This position is based in Edmonton, Alberta.
What You Will Be Working On
- Purchases or oversees the purchase of higher-risk and more complex materials, assets, and services in accordance with policies, procedures, and established buying agreements, using cost-effective approaches for each transaction.
- Understands and manages the procurement and project strategies in order to provide the best outcome in terms of scope, cost, and schedule as it relates to the district strategic plan.
- Provides leadership, guidance, and expertise by defining, implementing, and monitoring district procurement resources, guidelines, best practices, and procedures for the procurement department.
- Negotiates, establishes, and applies relevant purchasing/supply agreements to daily purchases.
- Proactively manages and supports the supply chain team and operations team to mitigate risks identified through expediting.
- Collaborates with suppliers, procurement team, other departments, senior management, and decision makers to share information, problem solve, and clarify management objectives.
- Identifies current and future risks (e.g., schedule, price, supply, quality, service) and contributes to discussions to manage/mitigate those risks.
- Interprets plans and specifications to ensure procurement activities satisfy project requirements.
- Manages project preplanning, mobilization, and job start activities.
- Trains and coaches ail staff within department for future growth and development opportunities.
What We Are Looking For
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related discipline an asset (e.g., business, supply chain management, logistics, warehouse distribution).
- Completion of a procurement and equipment designation or certification would be considered an asset.
- 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain/procurement in a related industry preferred.
- 3 years of leadership and management experience.
- Advanced construction knowledge; understands specifications, methods, and procedures. Involved in strategy, planning, and training/mentoring others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the understanding of the best way to use them.
- Extensive knowledge of commonly used construction materials, permanent/nonpermanent materials, services, tools, and equipment.
- Strong drive, time management, and sense of urgency: ability to assist in prioritization of shifting priorities for self and others in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Advanced understanding of supply chain process, project life cycle, procurement best practices, and risk.
- Strong negotiating skills and awareness of impact on company and projects. Able to mentor and train others on different techniques.
- Demonstrates strong understanding and the application of critical thinking skills in the following areas:
