How You Will Contribute:

Ciena R&D hardware organization is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced CAD tool prime to manage all CAD tools used by a global hardware team. This role involves maintaining/supporting hardware schematic/layout, simulation, mechanical, and thermal design tools. The CAD tools prime is a key member of the development team and ensures all tools are providing required capabilities and helps to resolves issues as required.

Tool Management:

• Perform design tool installation, configuration and updates
• Test new tool releases and regress custom features
• Manage tool revision introduction and communication to user community
• Customize CAD tool/configuration to suit specific project requirements
• Develop/implement scripts to introduce new functionality within CAD tools or to automate processes
• Support CAD tool integration with PDM (Agile) and mechanical (MCAD) tools
• Manage tool licenses/renewals; administer user access
• Maintain tools inventory for internal audits

Tool Technical Support:

• Provide tool support to hardware, mechanical and thermal design teams
• Maintain CAD tool documentation outlining usage procedures, guidelines, and best practices
• Work with engineering teams to identify tool enhancement opportunities
• Raise service tickets with tool vendors; drive vendors to resolve technical issues and to deliver product enhancements
• Engage CAD tool vendors for tool updates, presentations, and demonstrations

Engineering Server Maintenance/Support:

• Maintain/update/configure engineering servers (Cadence Pulse servers, PTC Windchill)
• Install and test server updates; resolve server outages
• Install server tools as required to maintain server and applications
• Address IT security concern on vulnerabilities with software and servers

The Must Haves:

• Degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent
• 8+ years of experience in managing and supporting CAD tools and servers
• Programming in scripting languages (Perl, csh, batch, Cadence skill, tcl)
• Windows and Linux systems/servers and related programming
• Cadence schematic capture DEHDL/EDM and Allegro, Siemens/Mentor Graphics, Creo & Windchill, and Signal Integrity toolsets

• Experience maintaining and updating Oracle databases

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position is $87,300 - $139,500 CAD. Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
