We are seeking a passionate and experienced Product Owner with a focus on mobile application development to join our growing API team. As a Product Owner, you will play a critical role in the tactical execution of our product vision by collaborating closely with the development team to deliver user-friendly and innovative mobile applications. Your primary responsibilities will include managing the product backlog, prioritizing features, and defining acceptance criteria, while serving as the voice of the customer for mobile experiences. You will work with stakeholders, developers, and Scrum Masters to ensure the successful delivery of high-impact sprint-level deliverables. Previous experience with mobile application development, UX/UI design principles, and customer-focused features is essential. Familiarity with digital financial products, the airline, hotel, or travel industry is a plus. Exceptional organizational and communication skills are key to succeeding in this role.

Essential Functions

Product Backlog Management

  • Own and manage the product backlog for mobile applications, ensuring it reflects the product vision and delivers maximum value to users.
  • Write and refine user stories with a strong focus on mobile use cases, including defining clear acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize features, epics, and tasks in collaboration with stakeholders and the development team, considering mobile-specific requirements like device compatibility, performance, and UX/UI design.
  • Ensure backlog items meet the "Definition of Ready" before development begins.

Customer Advocacy

  • Act as the voice of the mobile application user, ensuring the development team understands the "what" and "why" of their work.
  • Gather and translate customer feedback into actionable user stories and improvements, focusing on delivering exceptional mobile experiences.
  • Maintain a customer-focused mindset while aligning deliverables with business goals and mobile trends.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Scrum Master, developers, UX/UI designers, and other team members to ensure smooth sprint execution for mobile projects.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, while focusing on mobile deliverables.
  • Provide daily guidance and clarification on priorities and requirements to the development team, especially for mobile app development.

Execution & Delivery

  • Focus on achieving short-term goals and delivering high-impact mobile sprint-level deliverables.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align priorities, resolve conflicts, and ensure mobile application goals are met.
  • Ensure that mobile app deliverables meet quality standards, performance benchmarks, and acceptance criteria.

Scope & Decision-Making

  • Make day-to-day decisions on mobile application priorities, features, and scope within the sprint cycle.
  • Balance competing priorities to ensure maximum value delivery for mobile users and business stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate risks specific to mobile app development, such as performance optimization, device compatibility, and app store requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in mobile application development and product ownership for iOS and Android platforms.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an Agile environment.
  • Expertise in Agile frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Strong understanding of mobile UX/UI principles, device compatibility, and app store guidelines.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering mobile-first solutions.
  • Familiarity with the airline, hotel, or travel industry is a plus.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
