Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Always operating an Excavator, safely and respectfully achieving maximum production with full attention to crew safety and the prevention of incidents.
  • Performing daily pre-inspection machinery safety checks, equipment services, and inspection logs.
  • Always ensuring effective communication with the ground field crew.
  • Reporting on project progress and any potential issues as they arise to Field Supervisors.
  • Attending and being an active participant in all mandatory safety meetings, following instructions and operating as a productive member of a high-functioning team.
  • Working independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Being punctual and having excellent attendance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years working experience required on full size 40-ton and 50-ton size excavators.
  • Ability to operate a backhoe, dozer, and/or loader is an asset.
  • Must have experience with various shoring types and excavations to the maximum reach of digging depth.
  • Must have experience working with pipe crews and is comfortable working in tight/deep spaces and in traffic.
  • Must have experience digging around live systems, pulling trenches, cutting slopes or grades to finish tolerance.
  • Safety knowledge and experience in the construction industry.
  • Valid BC driver’s license preferred.
  • First aid is considered an asset.
  • Fit to work – ability to see, hear, walk, stand, and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Have a positive attitude and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
  • Willing to travel across the Okanagan for different projects in varied weather conditions.

Compensation:

Expected wage range: $37 to $44 per hour (exact compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal equity, and other criterion).
