Job Description
Are you passionate about payroll and time administration? Do you thrive in a collaborative and customer service-focused environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you at our Dartmouth, NS office!
As a vital member of our time entry and payroll team, the Payroll Administrator plays a key role in meeting our payroll obligations. You'll collaborate across various departments to ensure compliance with Fleetway policies and provincial legislation. Your responsibilities will include overseeing new hire, leave management, and termination processes in our HR and Financial systems. You'll also be responsible for the weekly time entry and payroll process for staff and subcontractors, as well as managing paid time off administration and workers' compensation compliance.

As a vital member of our time entry and payroll team, the Payroll Administrator plays a key role in meeting our payroll obligations. You'll collaborate across various departments to ensure compliance with Fleetway policies and provincial legislation. Your responsibilities will include overseeing new hire, leave management, and termination processes in our HR and Financial systems. You'll also be responsible for the weekly time entry and payroll process for staff and subcontractors, as well as managing paid time off administration and workers' compensation compliance.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the entry of staff and contractor timesheets, ensuring timely and accurate submission each week.
- Process data entry and changes in HR and time systems, identifying and correcting errors.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of new hires and staff changes
- Reconcile vacation and banked overtime balances, review vacation requests, validate general ledger balances and submit journal entries.
- Administer workers' compensation remittances and facilitate leave management processes, including disability, sick, maternity, and paternity leaves.
Education & Experience:
- College Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PCP certification is an asset and can substitute formal education.
- 2-5+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel and experience with financial enterprise systems and HRIS.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines with a keen eye for detail in timekeeping and payroll analysis.
- Comfort working efficiently with multiple programs and windows for extended periods.
- Prior experience in time entry processing in an enterprise financial system and/or HR system considered an asset.
