Accounting Technician

What you will do:

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the Accounting Technician is responsible for maintaining the books and accounting records in accordance with established procedures, as well as handling taxes and duties. They will also provide accounting support to our finance team.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions (sales, purchases, payments, receipts) in the company's accounting systems;
• Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure alignment between recorded transactions in the accounting system and bank statements;
• Prepare and submit monthly tax reports (VAT, GST, QST, etc.) on time, ensuring accuracy and tax compliance;
• Make necessary month-end adjustments to reconcile balance sheet accounts, including depreciation, provisions, payroll adjustments, and other journal entries;
• Provide support to the financial controller during annual audits by preparing documents, responding to auditor requests, and making recommended adjustments;
• Perform any other related tasks within the finance department.
  
  

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Diploma of college studies in accounting or equivalent experience;
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field;
• Experience in bookkeeping and general accounting;
• Bilingualism essential (French and English);
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite, particularly Excel, with experience handling files and pivot tables;
• Knowledge of SAGE 300 system (an asset).
