Position Overview

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and financial performance of the assigned region. This role involves managing various programs and initiatives, understanding the financial aspects of hog barns, leading sales and promotions, and engaging with the broader agricultural industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the swine market, and the ability to foster relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Understanding

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the P/L of a hog barn
  • Identify areas where improvements can be made and understand accounting practices.
  • Develop relationships with secretaries to review and analyze Swinebooks/secretary P/L, focusing on expense management.

Sales & Promotions

  • Organize and participate in promotional events, including Hog Days, swine seminars, annual customer appreciation events, in consultation with IVS/Impact.
  • Attend and represent the company at industry events such as Manitoba Pork and Hams marketing.

Advertising

  • Manage advertising efforts, including placements in Hutterite publications and supporting charitable initiatives.

Industry Knowledge

  • Identify market opportunities and potential areas for business growth.

Recruiting

  • Lead recruiting efforts to attract and retain top talent.

Nutrition Department/R&D/Innovation

  • Understand the pricing of products and collaborate with the nutrition department on R&D and innovation initiatives.

Consultant Compensation

  • Manage consultant pay, expenses, and take-home compensation.
  • Develop new hire compensation offers and plan options.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role within the agricultural industry.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of P/L statements.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of the swine market and nutritional concepts is highly desirable.
  • Experience in sales, promotions, and event management.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting reports.
