Team Lead Accountant

We are recruiting for a Team Lead Accountant to join a rapidly growing global organization that is going through exciting organizational and global systems transformation. This role will work closely with the ERP and Shared Service transition project team during SSC’s transition and ERP rollout project to ensure success of SSC’s transition of activities from the country businesses to the Shared Service center, specifically for German and Africa regions.
During the SSC transition/System roll out phase - As part of the Global Shared Services team (SSC), this candidate will play a key role in transitioning accounting activities from local business units to Shared Services and will be a subject matter expert (SME) for the SSC accounting processes. This role will provide guidance and training in this area, and will be responsible for creating process documentation, SOPS, desk top instructions, and training material.
On an ongoing operational basis - This role will be responsible for delivering the SSC’s accounting activities, along with the corresponding service level and key performance/operational metric. This role is crucial to ensure integrity, accurate and timely processing of financial information, maintain controls and compliance with company policies.

Ongoing day to day Operations - Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for full cycle accounting; accuracy, completeness, conformance
- Prepare account reconciliations (incl. Bank) and work on clearing items on the reconciliations.
- Intercompany Invoicing and reconciliations.
- Perform detailed financial analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities
- Responsible for being a subject matter expert in all key process of Shared services accounting scope
- Provide backup for other accountants and administrators in the Shared Service Centre as required
- Assists in the preparation of financial statements, audits, and any other monthly/ quarterly /annual reporting requirements.
- Administers all banking transactions and support cash management requests.
- Support Financial Statement Audits, and other regulatory audits
- Prepare month end bank reconciliations, Balance sheet account reconciliation, journal entries, overhead allocations
- Conduct period closing activities
- Prepare KPI reporting packages
- Lead / Contribute to special initiatives to drive process improvements
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and notes in accordance with GAAP, IFRS or other disclosed basis of accounting.
Must Haves:
- Fluent in German (both written and verbal)
- Strong full cycle accounting experience (5+ years)
- Willing to work in multiple different time zones (i.e. Germany time zone, and EST)
- Willing and flexible to travel regularly overseas (Germany, Africa, Australia, US, Asia)
- Experience with Shared services rollouts, and have worked in SSC’s model within a global organization.
- Some experience supporting ERP implementations (Finance Stream)
Work Experience
- Minimum 3+ years in a Team Lead/Supervisor capacity.
- Experience and strives in organizations undergoing change and rapid growth (Global organizations)
- Experience working effectively in a cross functional, multiple different countries jurisdictions.
- Experience and Proficient in ERP systems (Oracle Fusion), and can quickly learn new ones
- Documentation (SOP, Process flow mapping, responsibility matrix, transition/training plans etc.)

- Ability to work in a complex business environment with competing priorities
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent Process & Root Cause analysis along with problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail, while capturing holistic views
- Ability to present and articulate issues and recommendations to Sr. Management
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration or related disciplines
- Professional accounting designation preferred.
