Who You'll Be Working With
You will collaborate closely with the Corporate Controller, local and corporate finance teams, and department managers across operations, procurement, and sales. You will lead and support the accounting team, including the Accounting Manager and Accountants, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. Additionally, you'll work alongside leadership to drive strategic initiatives, oversee budgeting processes, and maintain strong internal controls. Your role will be integral in fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment within Grain Millers Canada.
Who You Are
You are a skilled financial leader with a strong accounting background and at least five years of experience, ideally in manufacturing or food processing. Detail-oriented and strategic, you excel in financial reporting, US GAAP compliance, and team leadership. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office (Excel), you are a proactive problem-solver who values integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Oversee all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal finance policies.
- Lead and support the accounting team, including the Accounting Manager and Accountants.
- Prepare and review financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for corporate and local operations.
- Supervise payroll processing, tax preparation, and intercompany transactions.
- Maintain accurate records of accruals, fixed assets, inventories, and general ledger accounts.
- Collaborate with leadership on financial strategy, cost control, and performance objectives.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards while fostering a culture of integrity.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration (accounting designation preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of accounting and management experience, ideally in manufacturing or food processing.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and corporate accounting policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics SL, Grain Smart preferred).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
