Backend Developer

Location: Longueuil QC—Remote

mdf commerce Inc. is an international team of approximately 650 experts who develop a broad set of SaaS solutions to optimize and accelerate commercial interactions of its B2B and B2G customers.

Working in the GovTech sector for our new brand, SOVRA, we seek a backend developer to join our team. As such, the Backend Developer will be proficient in all aspects of software development, including implementing requirements, generating documentation, unit testing, troubleshooting, packaging and deploying solutions.

What will your main responsibilities look like?

In This Role, You Will Be Led To

• Deliver quality backend software using Java and AWS microservices with Terraform. You’ll have end-to-end ownership of what you build, from initial requirements reviews and architecture to development and testing.
• Understand, comply with and enforce development standards to ensure consistency across the more significant development team.
• Be passionate about ensuring quality through solid test coverage for your code and by performing solid code reviews.
• Work together with the team to ensure that all specifications are met.
• Remain knowledgeable of emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them to operations and activities.

• Above all, must have a good attitude, be a team player, and have a strong work ethic.
• Aptitude for analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Well-versed in modern architecture and backend software design
• Object-oriented programming knowledge
• Proficiency with languages such as Java, Python, SQL
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies and platforms, such as JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, HTML, CSS
• Experience with the design and implementation of APIs
• Comfortable with large datasets in both relational and non-relational databases
• Proficiency and experience with Git
• Familiarity with AWS cloud development.
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is required.
• A minimum of three years of experience in software development is required.
• Experience with building and consuming APIs and Web services
