We are seeking a full-time legal assistant or paralegal to join one of the growing Wills and Estates department in a law firm.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of legal experience in wills and estate planning.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and self-direct.
  • Proficiency with relevant computer applications for producing legal correspondence and documents.
  • Willingness to learn additional software related to the job.

Responsibilities

  • Manage estate and will files with instructions from the lawyer, handling files from start to finish with supervision.
  • Draft wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements, and estate documents.
  • Schedule appointments for lawyers and manage their calendars.
  • Communicate with clients, banks, investment companies, accountants, and other organizations.
  • Arrange for accountants' services for estate-related income tax purposes.
  • Keep clients updated on the progress of their files.
  • Schedule discussions with lawyers on files requiring legal opinions.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Perform general office duties, including providing reception relief during breaks and vacations.
