Position Summary:

Educational Assistants provide support to students with a variety of special needs including physical, developmental, and behavioural. They work with children with special needs in a classroom setting, either in an integrated mainstream classroom or in a contained classroom.

Candidates must also be able to perform the essential physical duties of the position, which may include toileting, lifting, transferring, and personal care. A demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment is required.

Position Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in one of the following diploma programs: Development Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Educational Assistant, Educational Support, or Early Childhood Education; OR equivalent college or university degree in a child-related field (e.g., Social Service Work, Sociology, Psychology, Disability Studies, Child and Youth Studies) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of educational requirements.
  • Having a current BMS (Behavior Management Systems) training certificate would be considered an asset.

You must attach proof of academic qualifications (proof of enrollment) to be considered.

Rate of Pay:

$25.99 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

Additional Information:

The recruitment process requires a criminal background check for work with vulnerable persons and medical screening test.

If educated outside of Canada, certificates and/or diplomas or degrees must be assessed against Canadian education standards.
