Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Food & Beverage, this position is responsible for serving the guests in the restaurant, on the casino floor, or other areas. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members. This position does not qualify for AIP or PNP Immigration streams.
Key Accountabilities
- Greets guests by name wherever possible
- Escorts guests to a table when applicable; presents menus; informs guests of daily specials
- Explains how various menu items or beverages are prepared
- Takes the guest orders; makes recommendations
- Serves the guests; checks to ensure satisfaction
- Prepares food and beverages if applicable
- Resolves guests issues or asks management for assistance
- Presents bill upon request; takes payment
- Cleans tables or counters; removes dishes; re-stocks where applicable
- Performs opening or closing duties as required
- Counts cash float at end of shift when applicable
- Covers other servers' sections when required
- Follows responsible beverage service guidelines when serving alcoholic beverages
- Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
- Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership and team members
- Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed
Education and Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 1 year serving experience effective and service oriented communication
- POS experience
- Responsible Beverage training
- Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License
- Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely service
Work Environment Considerations
- Regular casino, restaurant or bar environment, standing and walking for long periods of time, some exposure to noise, odors; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stretching, non-traditional work hours
