About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Director, Finance & Treasury, the Manager, Corporate Accounting & Treasury is responsible for assisting the OEG Finance team and its affiliated entities with the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of all financial reporting and bank compliance requirements. The role will be supervising and mentoring a team that is responsible for corporate accounting and accounts payable functions. They will be responsible for the accounts payable process, including the timely processing of invoices and payments, accuracy of the data entry, and timely payment of vendors. The Manager, Corporate Accounting & Treasury will support budget preparation, financial planning & analysis, assist with financial statement preparation, and provide analytical support for monthly and annual financial reporting.

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Support all OEG companies’ books, records and financial reporting including internal Financial Statements, external quarterly Bank Reporting compliance and external reporting
  • Manage the transaction processing of day-to-day cash management requirements, which include short-term borrowing/investing activities, foreign exchange transactions, electronic payment administration, cheque issuance, wire transfers and related banking items
  • Perform an integral role in the monthly close process by preparing and reviewing reconciliations, working papers, and preparing and posting journal entries
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly cash-flow forecasts to ensure adequate cash flow to meet OEG’s operating and capital needs
  • Assist with the financial planning and analysis for both short-term and long-term forecasts
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit, including preparation and review of audit working papers, and coordination with external auditors and tax accountants
  • Support annual budget preparation for OEG and its affiliated entities
  • Responsible for the Accounts Payable function and ensures timely and accurate payment of all vendors
  • Actively reviews credit card limits, credit card holders, and ensures compliance with OEG’s corporate credit card policy and expense policy
  • Responsible for the review and maintenance of vendor information in Great Plains and confirmation that vendor accounts are up to date
  • Assist with the transition of all vendors from cheque to electronic payment
  • Monitor accounts payable aging reports, identify any delinquent accounts, ensure the timely resolution of the delinquent accounts
  • Lead the identification and implementation of improvements and changes to internal processes
  • Maintain accounting controls by supporting Finance Department policies and procedures
  • Other duties and project-oriented tasks as assigned

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Accounting Diploma or Degree required
  • Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation is required
  • Minimum 5 years directly related to accounting
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience
  • Experience with bank compliance and reporting
  • Treasury related experience including management of online business banking platforms considered an asset
  • Experience with IFRS is an asset, either direct or through a public practice
  • Detail focused, strong business acumen and well versed in financial modeling and analysis
  • Strong understanding of Accounting Systems and integration opportunities
  • Experience with computerized accounting software and a proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Solver BI360 experience is an asset
