Job Description:

Are you passionate about working with big data? Want to drive change and learn about fraud management? If so, this role might be for you.

The role is part of Canadian Fraud Performance Management Team. You would be responsible for mining big data to identify key fraud trends and insights, and to develop and implement fraud strategies. You would manage evolving fraud trends while taking into consideration TD risk appetite, customer and operational experience. With strong analytics background, you would join the team to learn about 1st and 3rd party fraud, and would leverage that knowledge to:

  • Lead product-specific fraud strategies and analytics initiatives to learn the business and help you specialize
  • Anticipate and explain potential fraud risks associated with strategic initiatives across TD
  • Design policy, process or strategic changes to enable the bank to safely deliver its strategic roadmap
  • Provide fraud and process expertise into solving larger, Fraud-driven strategic initiatives
  • Identify emerging fraud trends and develop defenses against emerging and in-market fraud trends
  • Understand and actively manage the operational impacts of our fraud defense strategies

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a diverse team of fraud strategy teams, data scientists, and subject matter experts. You would apply fraud business expertise leveraging advanced data tools and detection systems to manage fraud risk.

Accountabilities:

Fraud Management

  • Identify, track, and provide solutions to ongoing fraud vectors and portfolio threats using SQL, Python, and fraud authentication solutions
  • Develop strategic and tactical fraud rules, processes, and automation
  • Monitor for daily fraud attacks to create segmentation and develop/implement fraud strategies while balancing the impact to the operational teams and customer experience
  • Owns fraud strategy design and configuration in various fraud prevention platforms (e.g. Falcon, TSYS, PRM, VCAS, VRM, and more)
  • Supports case valuation and prioritization to optimize fraud management
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to support decision-making at the executive level
  • Design champion/challenger strategies that lead to ongoing learning and improvement
  • Expected to leverage subject matter expertise to independently investigate new, high-risk exposures under tight timelines
  • Produce timely diagnostics to identify system, strategy and operational issues
  • Participate in defect analysis to identify and remediate coverage gaps
  • Think forward and provide early gap mitigation to emerging threat vectors globally

Partner Support

  • Collaborates with business partners to develop solutions that minimize fraud risk while enabling business partners to achieve bank strategic priorities
  • Support the continuous improvement agenda for our operational partners
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as Fraud Operations, Internal Business Partners, Vendor Managers etc.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and represents the team or bank at project meetings or industry forums

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python for data analysis, automation, and reporting
  • Undergraduate degree from a technical domain (e.g. finance, engineering, mathematics/statistics computer science), preferably from a STEM program
  • 2+ years of experience in an analytical capacity
  • In-depth knowledge of data science tools such as NumPy, pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn/TensorFlow/Keras or equivalent
  • Understanding of machine learning methods with experience in deployment and implementation
  • Experience with automation tools and proven implementation record
  • Ability to quickly and independently structure and deliver on new problems not previously tackled by the bank
  • Creative, Critical, Conceptual thinker, ability to wade through data and arrive at conclusions
  • Ability to communicate strategy analysis to both technical and non-technical team members
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently under tight timelines
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Motivated to constantly strive to find innovative ways to enhance capabilities

Experience and/or Education

  • Undergraduate degree or advanced technical degree preferred (e.g., math, physics, engineering, finance or computer science). Graduate degree preferred with either progressive project work experience or 3+ years of relevant experience

Preferable

  • Experience in fraud management is an asset
  • Knowledge of machine learning is an asset
  • Automation experience is an asset
