Irving Equipment Limited is seeking a Crane Mechanic to join our team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our equipment fleet.
Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair
- Perform routine maintenance on cranes, trucks, trailers, and related heavy machinery.
- Repair or replace components such as engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential mechanical issues.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems using advanced diagnostic tools and software.
- Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
- Monitor performance and recommend adjustments to maintenance plans.
- Provide on-site maintenance and repairs at job sites and remote locations.
- Safely transport and utilize tools and equipment in the field.
- Adhere to safety protocols and actively participate in safety programs.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet compliance standards.
- Work closely with supervisors, operators, and coworkers to understand repair needs and provide updates on progress.
Education
- Post-secondary education in Heavy Equipment Service Technician or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, including cranes, diesel engines, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and computer-based maintenance software.
- Heavy Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic License.
- Valid driver’s license; certification or training in heavy equipment mechanics is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, technical manuals, and diagnostic systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
