Job Description

Irving Equipment Limited is seeking a Crane Mechanic to join our team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our equipment fleet.

Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair

  • Perform routine maintenance on cranes, trucks, trailers, and related heavy machinery.
  • Repair or replace components such as engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.

Inspection and Diagnosis

  • Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential mechanical issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems using advanced diagnostic tools and software.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
  • Monitor performance and recommend adjustments to maintenance plans.

Field Service

  • Provide on-site maintenance and repairs at job sites and remote locations.
  • Safely transport and utilize tools and equipment in the field.

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to safety protocols and actively participate in safety programs.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet compliance standards.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Work closely with supervisors, operators, and coworkers to understand repair needs and provide updates on progress.

Qualifications

Education

  • Post-secondary education in Heavy Equipment Service Technician or a related field.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, including cranes, diesel engines, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and computer-based maintenance software.

Certifications

  • Heavy Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic License.
  • Valid driver’s license; certification or training in heavy equipment mechanics is an asset.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, technical manuals, and diagnostic systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
