Commissionaires Southern Alberta is responsible for providing professional security services for Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Suffield. Position Summary

A Guard with Law enforcement is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of individuals, properties, and premises within their jurisdiction. Guards may patrol designated areas, respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, and apprehend suspects as needed. Guards will collaborate with law enforcement, provide support during incidents, and assist in crime prevention efforts. Guards will have specialized skills in handling security threats and emergency situations effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Patrol designated areas to deter criminal activities and ensure public safety.
  • Respond to emergency calls and requests for assistance promptly and effectively.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into suspicious activities, accidents, or security breaches.
  • Apprehend suspects in accordance with legal procedures.
  • Assist in traffic control, crowd management, and event security.
  • Collaborate with CPS and other law enforcement to support law enforcement efforts.
  • Provide accurate and detailed reports of incidents for documentation and legal purposes.

Skills, Abilities & Educational Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must possess a valid AB Security License.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Must possess valid first aid or be willing to obtain it.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Enhanced Clearance as per site requirements.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with strong organizational, time management, and priority setting skills.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn technology devices.
  • Positive attitude with a professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to handle emergency situations calmly.
  • Physically fit with the ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods.
  • Exceptional attention to detail for duties and incident report writing.
  • Former RCMP/Military experience or education/background in Law Enforcement is a strong asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Work 12-hour shifts.
  • May be exposed to prolonged periods of walking, sitting, or standing.
  • May be employed indoors or outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Climbing or descending stairs.
