Be part of a crew working as a Seasonal Labourer! We have positions in various areas within the Public Works Department including Parks & Open Space and Streets Maintenance.

As the Labourer you will:

  • Be responsible for grounds maintenance; operating, cleaning, and maintaining various tools and equipment; preparing/cleaning of worksites; maintaining clean and safe shops and yards; completing written and/or electronic reports; working outdoors in all weather conditions; concrete street, sidewalk and asphalt repairs; assisting with traffic control, and operating and following established safe work practices, operational policies, and procedures.

Your education and qualifications include:

  • Grade 10 education or equivalent.
  • Previous landscaping and/or construction experience, which could include: sodding, lawn/turf maintenance, painting, concrete work, asphalt work.
  • Experience and/or ability to use various types of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with staff and the general public.
  • Effective written communication with the ability to complete accurate records.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License is preferred. Successful candidates will be required to provide a valid Driver's Notice In Force letter if they have a Driver's License.
  • IMPORTANT: Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada. Conditions of employment:

  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods and over uneven terrain.
  • Must be physically capable of performing duties of the position. (e.g. capable of lifting and moving objects at least 50lbs).
