Job Description

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is seeking a Project Manager to join the Laboratory Medicine and Genetics Program.

The Laboratory Medicine and Genetics (LMG) program is a large, complex program that operates across 4 sites and encompasses a range of modalities, including biochemistry, microbiology, hematology, transfusion medicine, flow cytometry, anatomical pathology, specimen collection services, as well as a regional genetics program. Over 6,000,000 tests are performed annually with more than 2,000 specimens arriving daily. A continually Laboratory program is supported under the umbrella of a robust Laboratory Quality Management System. The program supports an active learning environment with learners in all roles.

We are looking for a strong Project Manager who has a proven track record and will work collaboratively with laboratory teams and other clinical and enabling teams across the organization to support strategic and change initiatives, including, but not limited to, the installation and implementation of new, large-scale capital equipment (e.g., biochemistry analyzer fleet), automation systems, and digital/information management systems. The Project Manager will also support site redevelopment and model of care transformation. This role will engage in critical strategic projects through timeline management designed to achieve the goals identified in the hospital’s strategic plan. As part of this role, the Project Manager will facilitate the integration of project planning and delivery in order to identify dependencies, maximize opportunities for collaboration and minimize risks and issues. The Project Manager will also support system level change initiatives that have broad impact across the program and organization.

Here’s What You Will Get To Do

  • Lead overall end-to-end project management ownership of multiple projects throughout the project life cycle within a multi-disciplinary team environment, including monitoring the deliverables of each project to ensure milestones are met and a high quality result is obtained
  • Regularly collaborate with project sponsors and partners at various levels to build and maintain strong relationships for successful project and program delivery
  • Maintain a strong focus on change management and communications across the multiple partners to minimize employee resistance and maximize employee engagement, ensuring smooth adoption of changes impacting employees and the organization. Develop the change management approach in collaboration with program leaders.
  • Monitor and report on progress, problems and solutions of the project to all partners and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain and track the project budget and collaborate regularly with finance team
  • Engage and communicate with Director and Managers and Physician Leadership on implementation progress and discuss risks and mitigations and strategies to resolve for project success.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates must have an undergraduate degree; business, life sciences, or related discipline preferred.
  • Master’s degree in public health/healthcare administration, business administration, or equivalent experience considered an asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent designation and Change Management Certification are assets
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in project management or successful leading complex change initiatives in healthcare environments such as hospitals, government or private sector.
  • Experience with complex laboratory information systems (LIS) projects is an asset.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects, preferably in a public-sector or healthcare environment with multiple stakeholders is preferred
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in managing ambiguity
  • Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills.
  • Strong tactical and critical strategic thinking with effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of systems integration.
  • Relevant experience in building and maintaining partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively under high pressure timelines.
  • Excellent analytical skills to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources with the ability to anticipate and identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
  • Superior writing skills to communicate information effectively to relevant partners, with the proven ability to explain and communicate complex topics using plain language.
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills and ability to successfully build relationships and partnerships across different levels of leadership.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer applications, especially the Microsoft Office suite
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required.
