Horton Housing is a not-for-profit Housing Association that manages a wide range of different housing, training and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire. We offer support to a variety of people, including those who are homeless or at risk, young people and refugees. We offer accommodation, skills and language support, and use a strength based approach to help the people we support achieve their goals in a manner which works for them.
We are currently recruiting for an Early Intervention and Prevention Coach to join our Young Persons’ Prevention and Support Service (YPASS), based in Calderdale. This role reports into the YPASS manager. This role is 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day.
The role
As an Early Intervention and Prevention Coach, you will be the first point of contact for young people (16-25) accessing the service and be responsible for providing low level support and brief interventions. You will be responsible for keeping in touch on a regular basis to help with housing applications, check people’s current circumstances and crisis intervention. Within this role, you will work closely with a number of external agencies including Customer First and the Young Person’s housing team.
You should provide a flexible, holistic and person-led approach to working with individuals, adopting a strengths based, trauma informed approach to enable individuals to identify and start achieving their ambitions. Finally, you will ensure any urgent needs identified at assessment are addressed immediately, including access to emergency accommodation.

What We Are Looking For
- An understanding or experience of the challenges faced by people going through difficult times e.g. homelessness, ill-health, offending, unemployment etc.
- Understanding of and/or experience of strength-based, person-led approaches
- A passion for enabling young people to use their talents and abilities to solve their own difficulties
- An enhanced DBS
- Valid driving licence and use of vehicle for work purposes
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries
- Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings
