Description

JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for an FP&A Lead to join our Finance team. You will be responsible to act as a valued business partner to all leaders of the organization, with functional responsibility for management of the Marketing budget. You will take an active role in full P&L management, optimizing Gross Margin by Product Category/SKU, as well as understanding overall cost drivers/variances driving the P&L. You will be a key partner in the AOP, forecasting and month end close processes. As a leader you will drive improved organizational decision making based upon value-added analysis. You will own a variety of financial reporting duties around P&L management, Marketing spend, Category profitability and Organizational KPIs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Develop relationships throughout the Canadian business unit, with a specific focus on being an active business partner to the Marketing team.
  • With the support of a Financial analyst, you will also support the Supply Chain and Operations functions in a planning and reporting capacity.
  • Help to refine and recommend options to improve Gross Margin optimization.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of various category related internal reporting, including but not limited to category reviews, volume building block reviews, SKU rationalization and monthly marketing spending analytics.
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to provide financial metrics for Monthly Performance Scorecard presentations.
  • Build insights and recommendations for monthly Category Forecast, Annual Plan and Strategic Plan.
  • Financial contribution and preparation for strategic category decisions with a retailer focus.
  • Manage P&L’s related to innovation including the gate process.
  • Ensure timely and effective internal control policies and procedures are in place for all applicable A&M, Display products and coupon processes.
  • Identify and communicate key financial and business drivers to influence decisions.
  • Partner with Sales FP&A to support in analysing pricing action impact to Net Sales and Margin.
  • Lead Finance functional initiatives as requested.
  • Partner with IT to find technological solutions that create process efficiencies.
  • Provide strong coaching and mentorship to one direct report – Financial Analyst.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or related field with 5+ years work experience and preferably in consumer packaged goods industry.
  • Previous experience in FP&A is preferred.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Background and experience in P&L management, along with knowledge of financial systems and general accounting concepts.
  • Ability to analyze and assimilate relevant data into key financial recommendations and decisions.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, including leveraging analytics, benchmarking, and insights to generate meaningful strategies and solutions.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communications, organizational and financial skills – ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge.
  • Proven ability to self-motivate in a fast paced environment, ability to deal with ambiguity, change and a dynamic business environment.
  • Systems savvy with proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience with Net Suite or other software tools preferred.
