We are currently recruiting for the position of Unscheduled Part Time Clinical Secretary (Service 6) to join our Freeport Float Pool Team. This position on evenings rotates between inpatient areas to meet multiple floors’ needs. Evenings are 2:30 until 9:00 pm, and also covers day shift needs.

How Clinical Secretaries support our Freeport Float Pool team at Grand River Hospital:

Clerical functions of the patient care unit, including, but not limited to reception duties, transcribing doctors’ orders, basic entry and retrieval and ordering of supplies. The successful candidate must have the ability to maintain statistics as required. A strong emphasis on working with computer software as per unit requirements. Contribute to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

At Grand River Hospital, our Clinical Secretaries will bring the following:

  • Post-secondary medical secretarial or health office administration diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Must be able to transcribe doctor’s order accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Must be able to enter computer data accurately and timely and demonstrate proficiency with this skill
  • Must be able to prioritize workload
  • Must possess problem-solving skills
  • Experience in arranging bed assignment according to insurance coverage preferred
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have medical terminology/transcription course completed with demonstrated proficiency
