Summary
At Hatch, the Structural CAD Designer is part of an engineering team providing engineering services to large and small projects. The role is responsible for the production of structural 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with project requirements under the supervision of the Lead Structural Designer. The successful candidate will participate in a wide range of projects covering structures such as building foundations, equipment foundations, building steel framing, and designs of various other structures for mining,industrial and hydropower plants. Activities include structural steel and concrete modeling and drafting for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects.

As The Successful Candidate, You Will
- Assist the Lead Structural Designer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost and schedule
- Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software as required
- Perform conceptual layout work
- Develop design details
- Check drawings prior to release
- Ensure coordination with designers and engineers within the discipline and with other disciplines
- Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models
- Participation in formal engineering review processes
- Verify onsite condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities
- Incorporate safety in design.
- Technical school diploma specializing in civil/structural design
- Experience within a large project, multi-disciplinary EPCM environment
- Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D structural design/drawing software packages, including at Revit, AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation software
- Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to structural design in Ontario.
- Understanding of other discipline requirements
- Ability to learn quickly and willingness to take on new challenges
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges
