What You Will Do

As an Engineering Software Developer at Johnson Controls, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining software applications using modern programming languages and frameworks. You will leverage your skills in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools and the Microsoft application platform to drive innovation and efficiency. Additionally, you will integrate AI outputs from the JCI Enterprise AI team and other AI systems to develop intelligent applications.

How You Will Do It

• Design, develop, and maintain custom business applications using low-code platforms like Power Apps.
• Develop and customize solutions within SharePoint for enhanced collaboration.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of Engineering Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), specifically Windchill PLM, to optimize project workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features in existing systems.
• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code while adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Integrate AI outputs from the JCI Enterprise AI team and other AI systems into applications to enhance functionality and user experience.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software to ensure optimal performance and user experience.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
• Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure software reliability and stability.
• Document software designs, code, and processes to support future reference and team collaboration.
• Provide technical support and serve as a subject matter resource for application development and enhancement.
• Report periodically to the Engineering Software Manager on project statuses and technical challenges.
  
  

Required

What we look for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6-9 years of experience in software development, particularly with Microsoft application platforms and modern programming languages.
• In-depth knowledge of RPA tools.
• Strong background in SharePoint development and customization.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum.
• Experience in integrating AI outputs into applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in collaborative environments.
• Outstanding communication skills, capable of engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  
  

Preferred

• Experience with CAD software APIs, specifically Autodesk Inventor and PTC Creo.
• Experience with the PTC Windchill API.
• Experience in cloud computing services and platforms (e.g., Azure).
• Familiarity with MS Azure AI Foundry and the CoreAI Platform.
• Certifications in relevant technologies or methodologies.
