From our humble beginning in 1917 to being one of the largest privately owned, value-added protein providers in Canada, our commitment to supplying high-quality products has been the core of our success. With a portfolio that includes a full line of poultry, beef, and pork products, we service a long list of customers in both retail and food service from our Waterloo, ON and Langley, BC facilities.

We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned Business Development Manager to play a critical role in executing and driving the business development strategy for JD Sweid Foods. This pivotal role involves overseeing sales and account management for a diverse portfolio of customers, including Food Service, FS Brokers, and Clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the achievement of annual targets for the acquisition of profitable new business, via new customers and/or new business with existing customers.
  • Accountable for the achievement of annual revenue, volume, and margin goals for assigned accounts.
  • Negotiating and supervising contracts, driving sales revenue, managing customer relations, and related sales performance.
  • Attain new business; develop, manage, and nurture new business accounts and partnerships to achieve assigned volume and profit goals.
  • Develop and implement annual account business plans in alignment with corporate revenue goals and objectives.
  • Maintain and manage contracts and relations with assigned accounts and distributors/business partners.
  • Assist in annual budget planning, and monitor account expenditures throughout the fiscal year.
  • Prepare and deliver sales materials, trade show exhibits, conference appearances, and other promotional programs, as required.
  • Monitor records and reports – including shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment – to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Manage and monitor pricing for assigned accounts, to ensure achievement of margin objectives.
  • Co-managed product Development projects for assigned customers.
  • Liaise with other business units for the completion of day-to-day administrative and operational issues.
  • Model and support behaviours which drive our culture.
  • Commit to on-going open and effective two-way communication with the department and across the organization.
  • Contribute to and demonstrate behaviours that support our commitment to a respectful workplace.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent education in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Business Development / Account Management within the Food and/or Consumer Products industry.
  • Experience with all aspects of sales, including growth strategies, distribution channel management, account development, and business planning.
  • Strong knowledge of Retail and/or Foodservice sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers, key business partners, and internal teams. Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with strong negotiation skills and a solid work ethic.
  • Knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management, and budgeting techniques.
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills, with the ability to overcome challenges and deliver results.
  • Ability to create, edit, and deliver compelling sales materials and presentations.
  • Capable of coordinating and organizing meetings, exhibits, and other events.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • A valid Driver’s License is required.
