Position Summary

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team in a premium casual dining environment. Our goal is to consistently deliver exceptional food and hospitality, creating an experience that our members are proud to share with family and friends. As the Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Chef de Cuisine to oversee kitchen operations, maintain high culinary standards, and ensure the seamless execution of our dining experience.

Position Responsibilities

Culinary Operations – 40 %

  • Assist the Chef de Cuisine in menu innovation and recipe standardization, ensuring alignment with seasonal ingredients and member preferences.
  • Ensure adherence to food presentation standards, maintaining consistency across all dining outlets.
  • Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and timely execution of orders.
  • Monitor and adjust food inventory levels, ensuring proper stock rotation and minimizing waste.

Leadership & Training – 30%

  • Foster a positive and collaborative kitchen culture, emphasizing teamwork and professional development.
  • Identify and mentor high-potential team members, supporting their career progression within the Club.
  • Assist in conducting performance reviews and feedback sessions for kitchen staff.
  • Promote and uphold workplace safety, sanitation, and hygiene in line with health regulations.

Kitchen Management & Compliance – 30%

  • Develop and enforce food cost control strategies, optimizing efficiency while maintaining quality.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including allergen management and food handling standards.
  • Maintain vendor relationships to secure high-quality ingredients at competitive prices.
  • Stay current with industry trends and integrate best practices to enhance kitchen operations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior kitchen role, overseeing a multi-faceted kitchen operation.
  • Culinary certification (Certificate in Cooking or equivalent experience).
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certification (Required)
  • Food Safe certification (Level 1 or higher) (Required)
  • Serving It Right certification (Required)
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong prioritization skills to efficiently manage tasks and achieve objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in team management and staff development.
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.

Working Conditions

  • This position operates 100% on-site
  • Regular evenings or weekend work may be required during peak periods or special events
  • Own transportation is an asset as public transportation is not frequent to/from the Club
  • Candidates 19 years or older must agree to complete a Police Information Check with a vulnerable sector search (fully reimbursed upon hire).
