We have an excellent career opportunity with our Ovation Underwriting team, located at our head office in Markham. A critical objective of this role will be delivering a trusted Broker Experience, taking ownership of risk decisions and transcending a confident and professional experience to our Broker Partners.
As an Intermediate Underwriter, you ensure communication with Broker Partners is consistent, fair and delivers a valuable service. Developing effective Broker Partner relationships is a key to the success for our business.
You will play a meaningful role in delivering exclusive underwriting service and will balance the broker needs against the corporate priorities to enable profitable growth and underwriting excellence. This role has the ability to and has a track record of achieving targets, goals, while keeping engaged with the broker. This role provides the opportunity to engage with brokers across Canada.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for delivering superior quality service and cultivating a “One Stop Shop” environment for our brokers.
- Engage with our selected Brokers, passionate about High Value business, and take a high-priority approach in the service delivery, maintaining an informed mentality and challenging the status quo to provide the best underwriting service.
- Produce new accounts through your engagement with our brokers, including price and coverage analysis, tailoring the product to meet specific needs of the end customer.
- Strong ability to negotiate coverage options and premium while maintaining underwriting discipline/profitability and promoting the ‘ease of doing business with Aviva’.
- Quoting and processing new quotes, bind endorsements, renewals and inspections. This role is about building relationships and continuously learning and developing knowledge about the end customers' needs through the broker.
- Provide support for our Broker Partners through the process.
- Order and review reports such as HITs, Autoplus and MVRs as required.
- Ability to multi-task and navigate through several applications at the same time (Portal, Insurac, Salesforce, DocVault, Google and other web-based applications).
- Prioritize to exceed broker expectations, delivering in an informed and professional manner.
- High degree of integrity when representing Ovation to our Broker Partners, working with team members, and with leadership at Aviva Canada Inc.
- Continuously update soft skills through identified e-learn courses and product/industry knowledge through CIP or other related industry accreditations.
- Requires flexibility to work within our operational hours of 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday to Friday.
