The SFU Science, Environment & Health Sciences Co-op programs are dedicated to providing unparalleled career development opportunities to Faculty of Science, Faculty of Environment, and Faculty of Health Sciences students. About the Role
The Co-op Student Advisor plays a critical role in providing guidance and support to co-op students in their career and work search. As a Co-op Student Advisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and evaluating co-op students' career and work search needs, providing information and advice, and coaching them through the career exploration and planning process.
This role is an integral part of the Science, Environment & Health Sciences Co-op Programs and contributes to the department's goal of providing students with valuable co-op experiences that align with their career aspirations. The Co-op Student Advisor will also work collaboratively with other members of the team to design and deliver career and work search related workshops, evaluate Co-op services, and develop new initiatives and policies.

The Co-op Student Advisor position requires an ideal candidate with experience in career counselling, who holds a relevant degree with teaching experience, expertise in curriculum design, and business experience within industry. Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, innovation, forward thinking, and exceptional communication skills are essential qualities for the candidate. The candidate should possess natural leadership skills, high self-awareness, and the ability to work effectively within a team. It is crucial for the candidate to have a high level of proficiency in technology and be knowledgeable about the economic trends in the labour market.
