LTO EA Level B - Extended Day Before School

This posting is open to WRDSB employees who are members of the EA Association as well as external applicants. Staff already in an LTO are not eligible to apply to this posting if it will conflict with their current LTO. All Long Term Occasional assignments are subject to a revised end date with 2-weeks notice.
Qualifications/Requirements:
A condition of employment as an EA/CYW with the Waterloo Region District School Board requires that one must pass a Physical Demands test. All job offers will be conditional on the candidate passing all components of this test. This applies to any EA/CYW that does not already have Permanent/LTO level D hours.
Educational Assistant Qualifications:
- Certified Teachers Educational Assistant Diploma or Educational Support Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Developmental Service Worker (DSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Social Services Diploma (SSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
Alternative EA Qualifications with Experience:
- Post-secondary degree in Sociology from an accredited post-secondary institution AND a MINIMUM of one (1) year (1,224) hours of related work experience preferably directly supporting special needs children. In lieu of this experience, significant relevant volunteer experience may be considered.
- Minimum six (6) month diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a child-related discipline AND a MINIMUM of one (1) year (1,224) hours of related work experience preferably directly supporting special needs children.
Assets:
- A valid Behaviour Management Systems certification
- Proven ability and recent experience in working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities
- Autism Spectrum Disorder Training
- Lifting/Positioning Training
Under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, employees working in licensed child care programs are required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check every fifth anniversary and complete an annual offence declaration. Educators in Before and After School Programs must submit a request for VSC through their local police service.
Employees are required to have a valid first aid and CPR certificate and or be registered to update their training within the year.
