Operations Supervisor - Food Production

We’re looking for someone with a passion for Operations Leadership for a position in our Toronto Flight Kitchen. If you have strong leadership skills and production experience, this is an opportunity to take your career to the next level. You will be leading people and process in our food production & assembly department. As we’re a 24hr/day, 7 days per week operation, you must be able to work various shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your culinary expertise to take our customer’s experience to the next level
  • Contribute to new menu design
  • Ensuring customer’s quality standards are always met or exceeded
  • Responsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specifications and regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures
  • Champions employee safety without compromise
  • Manages daily manpower planning including assignment of responsibilities and workstations
  • Responsible for evaluating employee performance, coaching, and corrective action for employees and liaises as required with HR and other support functions
  • Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labour and food costs
  • Always looks for ways to minimize labour and material cost
  • Works closely with all internal customers & suppliers to continuously improve the overall supply chain
  • Works with the entire leadership team toward a unified goal
  • Administrative tasks including creation of requisitions, production sheets, HACCP documentation, shift reports etc.

Education:

  • Red Seal Chef preferred

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years cooking or food preparation experience with a wide array of cuisines
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a high volume, fast paced food production environment with complex menus
  • Production planning experience a plus

Job Skills:

  • Strong and effective leadership skills with the ability to successfully manage a staff of 30+ employees
  • Ability to train and mentor others
  • Must have the ability to give constructive feedback to employees daily
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Able to balance multiple objectives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong organizational & analytical skills
  • Ability to create a production plan & execute that plan
  • Must be innovative and have the ability to make changes to the operation as needed to further improve the work environment and unit performance
  • Basic computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus
