We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our growing internal accounting team at Crowe BGK.

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role will play an instrumental part in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of the firm’s financial operations.
- Compile consolidated financial statements and accompanying footnotes.
- Prepare top-line profit and loss (P&L) statements and balance sheet analyses in Excel.
- Generate month-end and quarter-end financial reports, including reconciliations and adjusting journal entries.
- Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Manage monthly GST/QST filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Prepare corporate tax returns for all entities.
- Review and approve accounts payable entries.
- Propose bi-weekly vendor payment schedules.
- Apply cash receipts and communicate with clients as needed.
- Reconcile bank accounts and liaise with banking partners as necessary.
- Manage partner-related items such as consulting fees, payments, and distributions etc.
- Act as the superuser for accounting software platforms (e.g., Caseware, Business Central, STAR).
- Ensure accurate synchronization and reconciliation of data transfers between systems.
- Oversee and drive the annual renewal process for insurance policies, including liability, commercial, and crime coverage.
- Review and approve staff and partner expense reports.
- Prepare monthly and yearly reporting, along with various ad hoc financial analyses.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- CPA designation is considered an asset.
- 8-10 years’ experience in a similar position (preferably in the accounting or professional services industry).
- Bilingual spoken and written (French and English)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and reporting standards.
- Proficiency in financial software systems and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process improvements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with vendors, clients, and team members.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of organization in one’s work.
