About Us

The Department of Environment and Climate Change (NSECC) helps protect the environment and human health through legislation, regulation, conservation and enforcement. We support and promote a clean, healthy environment and lead government’s response to climate change. As a regulator, we also help individuals, industries and companies understand and follow the laws that protect the environment and citizens. We have about 300 staff across the province including engineers, public health specialists, biologists, ecologists, policy analysts, researchers, regulators and inspectors.

About Our Opportunity

Are you ready to make a significant impact and lead transformative projects? We are seeking a Senior Project Executive to join our team as a key influencer and strategic advisor. Your expertise will shape the direction of multi-functional, cross-departmental projects, building critical implementation and delivery capacity at NSECC. In this role, you will be instrumental in crafting and executing major initiatives.

As the Senior Project Executive, you will report directly to the Deputy Minister and be a vital member of the Departmental Executive Leadership Team.

Primary Accountabilities

As the Senior Project Executive, you will:

  • Collaborate with Leadership: Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to develop, implement, and track a multi-year strategy to achieve NSECC’s vision and mandate, ensuring alignment across the department and government.
  • Drive Innovation: Identify, develop, and implement organizational improvements and innovations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness throughout the organization.
  • Foster Engagement: Develop and implement an internal engagement strategy that promotes a healthy workplace, diversity and inclusion, public service excellence, and client service.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships: Develop and maintain collaborative, strategic relationships with partners across government, other levels of government, and other jurisdictions.
  • Lead Federal-Provincial-Territorial Coordination: Provide senior leadership and coordination on federal-provincial-territorial matters.
  • Champion Transformational Projects: Lead and champion the design of complex, transformational projects and initiatives on behalf of the Deputy Minister as they arise.
  • Provide Strategic Advice: Regularly offer strategic and sound advice to the Associate Deputy Minister, Deputy Minister, and Minister.

Qualifications And Experience

As a successful candidate, you will have an undergraduate degree in a related discipline and a number of years of progressive related work experience, including experience at a senior leadership level, or acceptable equivalent.

You are solution-oriented, a strategic thinker and an exceptional communicator. You will leverage your strong collaboration skills to work effectively with partners and other senior officials to build and cultivate trusting partnerships.

You are results-oriented, capable of prioritizing, exercising sound judgement under pressure.

You have experience with change management, project management and internal engagement planning.

You have a demonstrated track record of fostering engaged and diverse teams.

You have experience with developing and presenting written and verbal recommendations to senior officials. Experience managing budgets within forecasts is required.

Salary Range: $5,447.43 - $6,809.27 Bi-Weekly
