ResponsibilitiesReporting to the C.O.O.-Co C.E.O. the Director of People Systems will oversee all aspects of human capital management for our organization. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of HR best practices in a multi-site, geographically dispersed environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and implementing HR initiatives that align with organizational goals and foster a positive and productive workplace culture.
You will lead a dedicated team and collaborate closely with senior leadership to enhance employee experience, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive organizational effectiveness.
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive HR systems strategy aligned with the organization's overall objectives.
- Drive innovation and best practices in people management systems to support business growth and employee engagement.
- Lead the HR team in delivering comprehensive HR services including talent acquisition, retention initiatives, compensation and benefits, performance management, training & development, and advisory services as it relates to legislation, regulation and jurisdiction.
- Anticipate and identify emerging issues, trends, opportunities and challenges that affect the policies and programs of Arrow.
- Talent Acquisition and Management:
- Oversee recruitment efforts for all positions across multiple locations, ensuring a consistent and effective hiring process.
- Implement programs to attract and retain top talent, including employer branding, recruitment marketing, and onboarding processes.
- Employee Relations and Compliance:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees on HR-related issues.
- Conduct workplace investigations ensuring discretion with the desire for best possible outcome for both Arrow and the employee.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, state and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Organizational Development and Training:
- Drive initiatives to support employee development, succession planning, and career progression.
- Identify training needs and collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement training programs that enhance employee skills and performance.
- Compensation and Benefits:
- Oversee the design and administration of competitive and equitable compensation and benefits programs.
- Monitor industry trends and benchmarks to ensure the organization's offerings remain competitive and cost-effective.
- System Optimization and Integration:
- Oversee the implementation and integration of HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and other related platforms.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements across all systems.
- Process Improvement:
- Streamline HR processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities for automation and implement solutions to improve operational efficiency.
- Analytics and Reporting:
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives with a drive towards continuous improvement.
- Develop metrics and KPIs to track system performance and HR operational efficiency.
- Prepare reports for Arrow’s businesses on HR metrics, trends and outcomes.
- Change Management:
- Lead change management initiatives related to people systems implementations and upgrades.
- Champion adoption and utilization of new systems and technologies across the organization.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage and mentor a team of HR professionals responsible for effectively supporting a growing business.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development within the team.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws, regulations, and company policies in all HR systems and practices.
- Mitigate risks associated with all phases of the employment life-cycle.
- Ensures compliance with all legislative requirements in U.S. and Canada.
- Completion of an MBA or Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field.
- Working towards and maintenance of CHRP certification.
- 10-15 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a Director level/senior leadership role overseeing HR functions in a multi-site and diverse organization.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business strategy into HR initiatives.
- Experience working in Union/Non-Union and with Provincial, State and Federal jurisdictions in Canada and the U.S.
- Experience in the transportation, logistics, forestry and/or industrial sector an asset.
- Ability to make sound business decisions and evidence based recommendations to senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage HR core processes.
- Strong ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with all stakeholders.
- Proven excellence and commitment to customer service both internal and external.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Computer literate and ability to adapt and leverage positive impacts of existing and new HRIS and other software. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams etc..)

- Demonstrated ability to have a positive impact on business results.
- Able to interpret and implement personnel related legislation.
