Your work environment at EXP

EXP’s Brampton office is currently searching for a Manager, Construction Services. You will be responsible for management, business development, and providing client support and supervision of field staff. The individual will also be required to independently manage and supervise projects during the construction stage, either in capacity of Project Manager or Contract Administrator.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Reporting to the Snr. Director of Construction services and manage the continued development of assigned staff using performance evaluations, varying assignments, and promoting positive project morale.
  • Supervise field staff as assigned by the Snr. Director and have an understanding of the staff functions and responsibilities.
  • Review market opportunities, assist the Snr. Director with business development and proposal writing.
  • Manages, establishes, and maintain effective relationships with owner and engineers during construction.
  • Manage assigned projects and client expectations while keeping Executive Management informed of progress.
  • Review/prepare cost estimates during design and construction phases for projects under your portfolio.
  • Manages/review Contractor’s submissions (critical path schedules, change proposals, etc.) for compliance with contractual obligations and advise Client and Contractor accordingly. Provide constructability review of project drawings and specifications and advise team of findings.
  • Ensure that all requirements of insurance, safety, labour relations are maintained on projects.
  • Review/process applications for payment in a timely manner for various contracts.
  • Manages and coordinates the preparation of regular and special reports for job meetings and attends to same.
  • Manage the change management process during construction and ensure the required documentation and changes are properly incorporated in the work.
  • Monitor compliance with quality and quantity control measures and contractual obligations between EXP and the Client.
  • Negotiate change orders and pricing issues and construction claims.
  • Prepare agendas, attend meetings, take minutes of meetings.
  • Coordinate review of shop drawings, RFIs and maintain communication with contractors as required.

What Your Experience Looks Like

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Professional Engineer License, P.Eng is required.
  • PMP certification will be considered as an asset.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience supervising and leading team of site professionals.
  • Experience in municipal linear and vertical projects such as stormwater, water and wastewater.
  • Have extensive knowledge of current construction means and methods, scheduling, estimating, and engineering principles and techniques.
  • Have extensive knowledge in business development and proposal writings.
  • Be familiar with materials, their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerances.
  • Demonstrate management know-how, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Have ability to communicate well – both verbally and in writing.
