Role Description

Biocon Biologics is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmaceutical Sales Representative to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong sales background in the ophthalmology and pharmaceutical therapeutic area with a proven track record in territory management, and the ability to collaborate effectively with specialty pharmacies. The role requires excellent business acumen, strong relationship-building and communication skills, and a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. This position involves overnight travel and requires a candidate who is committed to driving sales and growing market share within the designated territory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Territory Management: Develop and execute a comprehensive territory plan to maximize sales opportunities and achieve or exceed sales targets within the assigned territory and accounts.
  • Knowledge of the functions, roles and processes in hospitals, specialty pharmacies and healthcare clinics.
  • Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders in the healthcare region such as: ophthalmologists, pharmacists, specialty pharmacies, nurses, technicians, drug access navigators, and all others healthcare professionals who impact patients care.
  • Sales and Marketing: Promote and sell pharmaceutical products in the ophthalmology therapeutic area, focusing on product benefits, clinical evidence, and competitive advantages in a compliant manner.
  • Be familiar with the biosimilar marketplace should there be a need to expand activities beyond the ophthalmology portfolio.
  • Collaboration with Specialty Pharmacies: Work closely with specialty pharmacies to support product access, patient education, and reimbursement processes.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay current on the latest industry trends, product developments, technologies and competitive landscape in the ophthalmology market to effectively position the company’s products.
  • Training and Development: Continuously enhance knowledge of product offerings and sales techniques to drive performance.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market intelligence within the CRM system. Provide regular reports on sales progress, forecasts, and market trends.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, legal, and ethical standards within the pharmaceutical industry.

Background And Experience Required

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, with a focus on ophthalmology preferred.
  • Territory Management: Proven experience managing a sales territory, with the ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Sales Skills: Strong business acumen with a track record of achieving sales goals and driving business growth. Ability to understand complex medical and scientific information and translate it into clear messaging for healthcare providers.
  • Travel: Ability to travel overnight as required for territory management and business development activities.
  • Ability to travel and work industry and company conferences as required by the position, some weekend conference work may be required.
