About Qualicum School District Qualicum School District is centrally situated on east Vancouver Island and covers the area of Nanoose Bay to Bowser and spans from Errington across the Strait of Georgia to Lasqueti Island. We serve a student population of approximately 4700 students. Qualicum School District consists of eight elementary schools (Grades K-7), two secondary schools (Grade 8-12), an alternate school (PASS/Woodwinds) and a Distributed Learning program to support home-learning families called the Collaborative Education Alternative Program (CEAP). False Bay School on Lasqueti Island is entirely off-grid with an immense solar project recently completed. JOB FUNCTION: An employee in this classification provides reception, accounts receivable and clerical assistance for the School Board Office. REPORTING TO:
Assistant Secretary Treasurer ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Performs switchboard and reception duties, Including mail and postage processing. Maintains records for accounts receivable including, but not limited to, ISP, Licence to Occupy leases, benefits continuance, and facility rentals.
Maintains the
Facility
Rentals portfolio for the district that includes public correspondence, scheduling, application processing, and referrals of conflicts or concerns. Prepares invoices, including but not limited to, benefits continuance, wage recoveries and facility rentals.
Receives and processes funds, issues receipts and prepares bank deposits, including reconciliation of accounts. Provides clerical assistance including preparation of routine correspondence as requested. Provides back up for Dispatch Clerk, as needed. Maintains petty cash including reconciliation. Performs other job-related duties. REQUIRED ABILITIES
AND
Qualifications
High school graduation or certificate equivalent. Successful completion of a one-year office administration or business certificate program at a recognized institution. Competence using current district word processing software to an intermediate level and spreadsheet software to an introductory level as demonstrated by successful completion of appropriate courses at a recognized institution. Successful completion of an introductory accounting course at a recognized institution, to a minimum of 25 hours of instruction.
Minimum one-year office experience within the last five years performing similar duties. Keyboarding speed of 50 cwpm.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to operate telephone systems and use standard office equipment. PLEASE PROVIDE 3 PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
