Salary Range: $39.07 - $56.00 /hour

The Registered Nurse (RN) will work in the outpatient physiatry and wound care clinic at St. Joseph's Health Care London, Parkwood Institute. The Outpatient Wound and Physicial Medicine and Rehabilitation clinic provides clinical care to individuals with amputations, conditions of childhood onset, spinal cord injuries, acquired brain injury, stroke, chronic wounds and musculoskeletal injuries.

This is an ideal opportunity for a Registered Nurse who wants to be part of a team of rehabilitation practitioners who are considered leaders in the delivery of rehabilitative care and to actively participate in improving the outcomes of the patients we serve and to the health care system as a whole.

Using the principles of patient centered and a holistic approach to care, the successful applicant will provide nursing care to patients seeking rehabilitative care with our teams. You will work to the full scope of practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Essential Qualifications

  • Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Minimum 3 years of complex wound care experience, within the last 5 years.
  • Two years' experience in providing clinical services to the neurological rehabilitation population
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an independent practitioner with expert skill to formulate clinical decision and engage in advance nursing evidence informed practice in order to provide clinical services for patients with complex wounds
  • Demonstrated ability to assess physical and psychosocial needs of rehabilitation patients
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills suitable for a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing positive interpersonal relationships, and able to work as an effective team member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with this patient population and their families
  • Ability to function as an independent practitioner
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, conflict management and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and document the nursing process, with a strong ability to think critically around clinical issues.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills with patients as well as a variety of community and organizational partners
  • Ability to apply effective body mechanics and meet the physical demands of the position
  • Demonstrated attention to ensuring a safe work environment for self, patients, and others
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning
  • Demonstrated skills with various computer software
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA

Preferred Qualifications

  • BScN
  • International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course certificate of completion (IIWCC)
  • Completion Wounds Care Champion Program (WCCP)
  • Nurses Specializing in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Care (NSWOC) Certification
  • Demonstrated competency in IV and Phlebotomy
  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset

Teaching and Research

  • St. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. As an employee of St. Joseph's, you will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties

Immunization Requirements

  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (primary series/boosters, XBB or KP.2) OR one dose of KP.2 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date.
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
