Molex Industrial Automation Platform team is looking for an “Engineering Lead, Production Support” to join our team who can help create, launch and support manufacturing processes for electromechanical products at selected contract manufacturers (CM’s). The ideal candidate is a sharp, fast, positive, and confident team player who has both specific and general knowledge in the relevant engineering disciplines of software, electrical, mechanical, and process. You will work closely with our cross-functional design team and other business partners that design our electronic products. These products are becoming faster, denser, smarter, and more complex with every evolution. In this role, you will be responsible for collaborating with our design team, working with your team members and our CM’s to set up documented production workflows that will meet the demand, produce quality finished electromechanical goods at a competitive cost.

What You Will Do
- Lead the Production Support teams to improve production test solutions through documentation, process flow, and updates.
- Oversee the release of new products pilot runs, ensuring the finished good package, production test solution, and production flow are optimized to reduce cost and support efforts in sustaining and test.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to compile and release the production release package of files, including engineering files and information in a way that will result in our CM’s having increased build efficiency and understanding.
- Support the team in clearly defining, creating, and documenting test systems required for production.
- Support the team in sustaining products in production as they age, ensuring continuous improvement in the team’s capabilities to handle these efforts.
- Engage with our Contract Manufacturers (CM's) to support the transfer of products across different sites or to address production issues with existing product lines.
- Work with outside vendors or our CM’s for the creation of specialized tooling to support production requirements.
- Oversee the Documentation and performance of first article inspections (FAI’s) against the production flow within the NPI workflow.
- Participate in the investigation and sourcing of technologies that can improve production efficiency and product quality.
- Create scheduling artifacts to clearly communicate project scope (effort and cost).
- Support the growth and development of your team members in a way that is mutually beneficial to the individual, team and Molex.
- Participate in the development and field commissioning of production fixtures to support the test of Electronic PCBA’s and industrial IO products.
- Diploma in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Electronic Technologist/Technician, or Mechatronics.
- Experience in the manufacturing or design of electronic and electromechanical products
- Experience in working with contract manufacturers, machine builders, developing qualification plans, performing acceptance runs and verifying the roll out of processes for mass production.
- Experience leading a team in the support of production fixtures, processes documentation, BOM managements and verification.
- Ability to travel internationally (expected: 5-15% of time depending on need)
- Having a contribution mindset with a willingness to do what needs to be done.
- Experience working with SMT contract manufacturers to produce electromechanical assemblies (Box builds).
- Experience designing and commissioning test fixtures for printed circuit board assemblies (FCT for PCBA’s).
- Experience with specifying requirements to design engineering to support production process needs.
- Experience in electronic product design such as schematic creation, design PCB layout, etc.
