Established in 1979, Teraflex provides electrical, communication and civil construction services for clients that include leading land and property developers; general contractors engaged in major transportation projects; and, federal, provincial and municipal governments. Our team is always on standby, ready to support clients at any time, whether it’s for the repair of unforeseen damage to infrastructure or to connect utility services in a timely fashion.

Project Estimator and Coordinator

Reporting to the General Manager, the Project Estimator and Coordinator works on successively bidding and pricing projects within the Ottawa and surrounding areas, preparing quality submissions to secure work. This role engages and works closely with project team members, managers and vendors to help deliver estimates efficiently. The Project Estimator and Coordinator also supports Operations in the execution of projects and with inventory management.

Accountabilities

  • Analyzes drawings, specifications, proposals, contracts and other documentation
  • Applies knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes to specific project requirements to formulate an estimate
  • Determine material, labour, and equipment requirements to execute the proposed work
  • Computes cost factors and prepares estimates
  • Consults with Operations, Project Managers, vendors, or other individuals to refine and produce high quality estimates
  • Ensures pricing consistency by maintaining historical information on quoted and completed projects
  • Conducts frequent searches on all available media/bulletin boards/job postings sites for bid and prequal opportunities
  • Fosters strong relationships with existing and new clients
  • Develops and maintains an extensive network of subcontractors, vendors and engineering firms
  • Works closely with the assigned Operations team in the development of the project execution plan and provide support to Project Managers as required
  • Assist with inventory management

Qualifications And Experience

  • Education in Construction Estimating, Engineering, Electrical or Civil Technology or related field
  • Understanding of plan reading and interpretation of tender documents
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Construction Estimator
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Understanding of light to heavy Civil construction in Utilities and an electrical background would be considered an asset
  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset
  • Canadian Government Security Clearance in Canada an asset
