What you’ll be doing

The Senior Research Analyst, Performance and Risk Analytics is accountable for the measurement, monitoring and management of investment risk and performance across CIBC Asset Management (CAM). The role will be an integral part of CAM’s risk management framework to provide independent assurance about risk and performance for all portfolios. You'll be responsible for assessing, measuring and reporting on investment risks across all CAM mandates. Our stakeholders are senior management, risk, marketing, regulators, client servicing and investment teams. You may also be involved with a variety of projects that will expose you to various research areas such as portfolio construction, asset allocation and quantitative analysis. The role applies expert interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, and provides leadership and mentorship to the team, and represents the team to internal and external partners, and clients, in the area of risk management.

How you’ll succeed

  • Reporting solution - Support the team in providing reporting solutions to internal and external partners. Assist reporting analysts with quantitative support in meeting the following deliverables: Maintain a database of economic, market, performance and portfolio data. Production of monthly and quarterly characteristics and risk reports for strategy fact sheet production.
  • Analytical support - Deliver data, statistical reports, investment analytics and quantitative analysis to internal and external partners. Develop and update financial models and applications to support CAM products. Prepare and communicate market trends and risk reports to stakeholders.
  • Client focused - Collaborative team player with the ability to manage individual responsibilities with a greater focus on big picture success ahead of personal recognition. Understands complex environments that need to consider multiple stakeholder perspectives – clients, product and investment teams.

Who you are

  • You have a degree/diploma in Finance, Economics, Engineering or other complementary Business discipline.
  • You’re a certified professional. It’s an asset if you have a CFA/FRM designation or enrolment in the CFA program.
  • You can demonstrate experience in Excel, Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, Morningstar, VBA, Python. Experience in handling large data sets and building macro-based spreadsheets.
  • You have broad knowledge across asset classes. Equity, Fixed Income, FX and are able to articulate a view of the market that is rooted in data, and an exhaustive consideration of all relevant perspectives. Prior experience related to Mutual Funds, Managed Portfolio solutions and other investment products is an advantage.
  • You have working knowledge on derivative instruments pricing, factor analysis, VaR, stress testing, liquidity risk modelling and counterparty risks.

  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You're confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
  • You have the capability to work in a fast paced, results-oriented team, focused on execution for clients.
  • It’s an asset if you’re fluent in spoken and written French.
