Merit Cleaning Services delivers best-in-class cleaning services within hotels, commercial offices, residential buildings, as well as private residential dwellings throughout the HRM. If you share our values and would like to work with skilled professionals, Merit Cleaning is presently seeking an Assistant General Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager of Merit Cleaning, the Assistant General Manager will assist in managing the overall operations. This includes ensuring high standards of service delivery, managing a team, overseeing client relationships, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.

As Assistant General Manager, you’ll get to:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and monitoring the cleaning staff.
  • Ensure cleaning services meet or exceed quality standards and client expectations.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise cleaning staff, supervisors, and managers.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations for employees.
  • Foster a positive company culture and motivate staff to achieve business goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and address concerns promptly.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests for special services.
  • Ensure the company adheres to all government safety regulations.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and guidelines for the cleaning staff.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by regularly inspecting equipment and workspaces.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in cleaning services.
  • Such other similar and related duties as may be reasonably required by the Employer from time to time.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven experience in managing a cleaning company or similar business.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and work under pressure.
  • In-depth knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safety standards.
