About WiSE: Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) is a student-run organization at Queen’s dedicated to supporting and empowering women in their pursuit of a future in STEM. Throughout the year, we host a variety of events and programs to educate youth and promote a positive environment for young women to explore their passions and foster professional connections. We offer networking events, mentorship programs, and workshops to help students develop professional skills and form industry connections, as well as community outreach initiatives to inspire the next generation’s enthusiasm for STEM.

Role Overview: The President/Vice President of WiSE plays a crucial role in leading and managing the organization's activities and initiatives. They are responsible for overseeing the execution of events, coordinating with team members, and representing WiSE both within the university community and externally. The President/Vice President works closely with the executive team and reports directly to the WiSE Faculty Advisor.

Major Tasks

  • Lead the planning and execution of WiSE events, including networking events, mentorship programs, workshops, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the executive team to set goals and develop strategies to achieve them.
  • Serve as a liaison between WiSE and other student organizations, faculty, and industry partners.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members and volunteers to ensure the successful implementation of WiSE initiatives.

Contributions Expected

  • Drive the growth and impact of WiSE within the university community and beyond.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive environment for women pursuing STEM careers.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with industry professionals and organizations to enhance opportunities for WiSE members.

Additional Information

  • This is a volunteer position.
  • Typical Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per week
  • Candidates should be passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM and committed to the mission of WiSE.

Application/Interview Process

Applications are open from February 14th - February 26th @11:59PM.

Interviews will be 30 minutes long and conducted virtually on February 27th and 28th. Candidates will be interviewed by the current WiSE President, Internal Vice President, and External Vice President. All candidates will receive an interview.
