The Opportunity

MT Talent is happy to partner with a reputable Industrial, Commercial and Institutional controls and automation contractor to recruit their next Senior Electrical Estimator for their new Surrey, BC location. With a diverse and highly-skilled work force, our client has been operating for over 25 years, successfully executing projects. This role will play a key part in growing the BC branch. The Estimator will bring a proven track record of winning projects ranging from $30K to $5M, established relationships with customers, vendors and other stakeholders, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

What You’ll Be Doing In The Role

• Provide thorough takeoffs that accurately reflect all costs using estimating Accubid and other estimating software
• Preparing tenders by quantifying, organizing, and calculating all material, labour, and subcontract costs needed to complete the project
• Participating in tender review, tender hand-off with Project Managers and Purchasing
• Provide timely and thorough updates to management, including possibility of being awarded projects/winning bids, changes, and potential risks
• Attend site visits as required to gain knowledge and information for quoting purposes
• Track all bids and proposals and submit to Project Manager for entry
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs throughout the bid process
• Identify new opportunities through both new and existing customers
  
  

What You Bring To The Role

• Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Trade License is preferred
• A minimum of 5 years’ proven experience with Estimating in the ICI Electrical and Construction space. A track record of winning projects, producing quality electrical estimates, and completing RFP/RFQ’s successfully is essential.
• Experience with automation is highly desired.
• Project Management experience is an asset.
• Ability to understand all types of drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code and Canadian Electrical Code
• Thorough working knowledge of the electrical construction industry
• Strong computer skills including proficiency. Advanced experience with MS Office and Accubid is essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and with both internal and external stakeholders
• Self-motivated and able to work under strict deadlines
• Outstanding organization and time management
• Strong background in Power Distribution, EV, and Infrastructure
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites at times
