Position Highlights

Our Driver Licensing Policy, Standard & Governance team is looking for two temporary Policy Advisors. The team is accountable to provide policy and procedure analysis, development, interpretation, advice and guidance on a variety of operational issues relating to driver licensing and identification.

This role requires an individual with analytical skills to lead policy review and development initiatives. Small and medium scale policy initiatives will fall within the scope of your responsibilities. You will also assist and support large scale projects.

Drawing on your understanding and experience of corporate and government processes, commitments and direction, you will:

  • Analyze the implications of existing policies and emerging trends
  • Conduct research and analysis on driver licensing matters
  • Identify the need for policy, regulatory and legislation changes
  • Evaluate and recommend options for senior leadership
  • Build consensus/support with stakeholders on the development/integration of new policy and related processes
  • Prepare a variety of reports and briefing materials regarding current/proposed policies, including options and associated costs/impacts.

Position Requirements

To meet the challenges of this role, you have knowledge of government structure, decision-making and legislative processes, public policy development & relevant acts, regulations and policies. Knowledge of driver licensing is also an asset.

In addition, you have demonstrated expertise in the following:

  • Policy review and development initiatives
  • Conducting research and analysis into public policy issues
  • Communicating complex materials and/or changes to varying audiences
  • Compiling and assessing relevant research data
  • Preparing correspondence, briefing notes, decision requests, and position papers designed to influence and persuade decision makers to adopt a recommended course of action

Your expertise has been founded on post-secondary education (a Bachelor’s degree is required, or a Masters is preferred) related to Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related discipline, as well as experience in public policy/program development and implementation.

Work arrangement defined:

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
