The emergency department is an area of nursing practice that requires specialized training. It encompasses the care of both critical and non-critical patients, and provides you with numerous challenging situations, along with many rewards. This position is a special opportunity for nurses without critical care (emergency) experience. An Orientation Program will be provided to successful applicants who do not have past emergency experience, and a two (2) year commitment is required. Successful candidates will be required to commit to 3 months of Full-Time hours in order to complete the Novice Nurse Program.
Rotation/Shifts
Days and nights, including weekends,12 hour shifts.

- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Minimum 6 months of recent medical/surgical experience;
- ACLS certification in progress and/or successful completion of a critical care or emergency nursing course;
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and willingness to actively participate in departmental educational activities;
- Demonstrates a knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this process to the practice of Nursing;
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient teaching;
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as an active member of the health care team;
- Demonstrates a professional and respectful attitude to patients, the public and colleagues;
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing;
- Minimum 2 years of recent medical/surgical experience;
- Post-graduate studies;
- Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
