Under the supervision of the M & TW Director, the incumbent is responsible for the interventions of the department’s resources in a given project during its proposal and execution phases. He or she directs and coordinates the resources that are allocated to the project. He or she manages the development of construction methods, plans and designs temporary structures, oversees production of models and plans, and ensures work on the structures is compliant during installation at the construction site. He or she also provides technical support throughout the proposal and execution phases of the project.

Specific Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Work closely with team leaders and other M & TW managers to coordinate resources so that mandates are effectively carried out.
  • Oversee the work done by the team and the quality of the documents, and ensure that the schedule for producing the deliverables is respected.
  • Oversee and guide the preparation of general methods and work sequences, equipment requirements, as well as the preliminary design of temporary structures during the proposal phase.
  • During the proposal or start-up of a project, participate with the M & TW Director in defining the main mandates that will be carried out directly by the department and those that will be subcontracted (if applicable), and define a production schedule for the deliverables.
  • Define, in collaboration with the construction team, the general methods that will be deployed on the site.
  • Coordinate and ensure the production of various documents, including work site layout plans, lifting plans and other plans specific to the project.
  • Coordinate and ensure the production of phasing plans: use cycles for temporary structures and general work phasing.
  • Find the best options for achieving temporary structures, in line with the planning and general methods contemplated, and anticipate problems that could arise at the work site.
  • Design temporary structures (special formworks, pile-driving jigs, platforms, temporary walkways and bridges, steel structures, cofferdams, temporary supports, etc.), and support the engineers involved in their design.
  • Coordinate and ensure the production of models and manufacturing plans for temporary works.
  • Manage the internal and external verification process of engineering documents produced for the project.
  • Validate and finalize the temporary structure design plans produced for the site.
  • Sign and seal plans for the temporary works.
  • Provide the construction team with technical support regarding the installation and compliance with methods.
  • Certify the compliance of specific temporary structures.
  • Act as a relevant and credible technical resource for stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction engineering
  • M & TW Manager: 10 to 15 years of relevant work experience in civil engineering and structure design
  • Senior M & TW Manager: More than 15 years of relevant work experience in civil engineering and structure design
  • Team management experience
  • Full engineering licence
  • Highly proficient with AdvanceDesign or other finite element software
  • Excellent command of the AutoCAD software program
  • Proficiency in Revit or Civil 3D, an asse
