About You And This Role
Dow's Path2Zero Program is seeking an FS2 Mechanical Commissioning and Start-up (C&SU) Lead to join our team in Fort Saskatchewan, AB. This role will work closely with the project Maintenance and Reliability representatives and be a key member of FS2 Commissioning and Start-up team.
The Path2Zero (P2Z) program will create the first net-zero emissions plant of its kind in the world and is a key enabler to Dow’s Decarbonization strategy. Learn More: Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero (dow.com).
In this role, you will initially be the lead for the mechanical team responsible for commissioning and start-up of the non-critical rotating equipment in the new FS2 ethylene production facility. You will provide oversight of the non-CRE mechanical C&SU team and be accountable for deliverables related to effective start-up of the new facility as well as setting up the new asset for long term maintenance.
After the project reaches Return to Operations (RTO), this role will become the FS2 Maintenance Engineer aligned to the facility.

- Lead the development of Non-CRE Mechanical Equipment Commissioning and Start-up Procedures.
- Lead the development of Commissioning and Start-up Binder for Non-CRE.
- Review of Non-CRE Mechanical Equipment Protection Plans and participate in field audits throughout construction phase.
- Lead the development of Non-CRE Mechanical Equipment PPM, Lubrication, Vibration, Lifting device inspection, HVAC equipment PPM Program.
- Collaborate with Reliability Engineer for Equipment Reliability Strategy implementation.
- Review of Non-CRE Mechanical spare part and setup stocking quantity aligning with ERS and site requirements.
- Support in setting up C&SU database in Provenience for Mechanical Equipment.
- Work with Maintenance rep. to setup plan for Non-CRE Mechanical C&SU resources
- Work with Maintenance rep. to setup plan Non-CRE Mechanical tools.
- Lead the development of Non-CRE Mechanical Equipment repair procedures.
- Review process automation setting for Non-CRE Mechanical equipment.
- Lead Non-CRE Mechanical Commissioning and Start-up activities.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Registration or the ability to be registered with APEGA (EIT/P. Eng).
- At least 3 years of relevant experience (i.e. maintenance and reliability engineering, etc.)
- Willing and able to travel up to 25% (domestically & internationally).
- Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment (including harnesses with a total maximum weight capacity of 300lbs). Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage.
- Prior C&SU experience is preferred.
- A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.
- Influential Leadership - Influence the Maintenance C&SU team members to meet project deliverables.
- Mentorship - Provide coaching and mentorship in the mechanical discipline to the C&SU team.
- Effective Communication - Manage stakeholder communications across multiple work groups.
- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Support the C&SU maintenance team managing multiple project deliverables.
- Decision Making - Regularly make decisions regarding the appropriate path forward for issues related to budget, schedule and scope.
