Why is this role important?

The Master and Reference Data (MRD) team is responsible for defining and implementing a CIHI-wide vision and strategy to enhance master data capabilities for operational, analytical and reporting needs with a focus on key master and reference data domains. Our key master data domains are organization, contact, client, geography, and population. High quality and consistent master and reference data ensures that CIHI can perform accurate analysis across different datasets.

What you'll do

The role will support the annual and ongoing work on corporate master data sources as well as enhancing the capture and use of organization, geography, population and reference data. As part of the team, you will:

  1. Participate in matrix teams with representatives from the MRD team, master data stewards, program areas, and Information Technology Services in the development and execution of master data operations, projects, and supporting documentation.
  2. Assist with research and analyses in support of MRD projects and activities.
  3. Participate in the identification and resolution of important issues relating to master data to ensure effective operation, maintenance, and standardized use, which may include developing data policies, business rules, and documentation for data collection, quality assurance, and data element definitions.
  4. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to confirm and validate information to keep master data up to date.

What you'll bring to the table

  • Working towards an undergraduate degree in health information, health sciences, social sciences, mathematics/statistics, engineering, geography, or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using Python or SAS is an asset.
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian health care system and the importance of master data standards.
  • Experience with MS Sharepoint is an asset.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and/or business processes associated with developing and reporting on health indicators or metrics is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in both official languages is an asset.
