ABOUT THE TEAM

The BTP HANA & Persistency Development organization is responsible for building and delivering SAP’s Database and Data Management solutions that bring out the best of every business. Key product offerings of this organization are SAP HANA, SAP HANA Cloud/Data Lake. An in-memory, analytic & OLTP database processing platform providing features for predictive planning, text- and spatial processing, a vector and knowledge graph engine for AI usage – all on the same architecture. The Development Support team - as one part of the BTP HANA & Persistency Development organization - plays a vital role in driving customer success and improving quality of our HANA product portfolio. We engage directly with customers, lines of business and other internal stakeholders, providing them with advanced technical support and a direct link to Development and Product Management teams. Our team is distributed around the globe to ensure 24/7 customer service.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a Support Specialist with good technical knowledge on databases, IT environments, and customer support experience. This is a very technical, hands-on position. You will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert-level technical support to SAP HANA database customers and other stakeholders, e.g., analyzing stability, performance and scalability issues of the database.
  • Supporting the most complex and technically challenging HANA implementations, integrated within SAP suite of business applications or 3rd party solutions.
  • Providing direct product feedback to the core HANA Development teams by reproducing and reporting software defects.
  • Improving our documentation and knowledge base articles as well as developing internal support tools.
  • Ensuring smooth operation of our global HANA Cloud infrastructures by closely working with operation teams.
  • Collaborating on critical issues with our peer teams in North America, Germany, South Korea, and China locations.

Role Requirements (must-haves):

  • Good knowledge of relational database architectures or in-memory database solutions.
  • Strong analytical thinking with versatile and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Very good communication skills, verbal and written working proficiency in English.
  • Degree in computer science or related technical discipline (engineering, mathematics, physics).
  • Excellent team player, self-motivated, ability to collaborate with local and global teams across different time zones.
  • Understanding of C/C++ language or object-oriented programming principles and related development topics like tracing, code debugging & profiling.

Optional skills (nice-to-haves):

  • LINUX and networking skills related to technical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, CloudFoundry, Kubernetes, Jira, Bugzilla.
  • Knowledge of common Cloud environments (Azure, GC, AWS).
  • Knowledge of SAP applications (e.g., BW, ERP, S/4 HANA, SLT, SAC, SAP NetWeaver technology stack).
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., ABAP, C++, Python, Unix shell etc.).
  • Knowledge of Linux and enterprise computing solutions (high availability, file systems, computer networks etc.).

SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 74,600 - 156800(CAD) CAD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount, and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance. Due to the nature of the role, which involves global interactions with SAP entities, as well as with employees and stakeholders in Canada, functional proficiency in English is required for positions based in Quebec.
