Load Planner/Dispatcher

We are currently seeking a Load Planner/Dispatcher - Bulk to join our team at our Thunder Bay, ON Bulk Terminal.

Summary

Reporting to the Bulk Dispatch Manager, the Bulk Load Planner/Dispatcher will carry out all the day-to-day associated with the Load Planning function to ensure maximum efficiency of equipment and overall customer satisfaction.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Communicate via telephone, email and in person with Bulk customers to establish their needs in a friendly and courteous manner
• Communicate with Bulk Supervisor, Manager and Driver Services with any issues
• Input information into the dispatch computer system
• Coordinate load planning such as, source new loads, negotiate rates with customer, and communicate available loads with dispatchers
• Work with dispatchers to assign trips to drivers
• Coordinate movement of freight
• Provide rate quotes to customers
• Cross train and complete dispatch duties as required
• Accepts off duty emergency calls
• Perform all work in a safe manner and comply with all Gardewine safe work practices, policies, and procedures
• Practices and promotes safe work procedures and initiatives
• Other duties as assigned and required
  
  

Qualifications

Must have one to two years related experience. Excellent computer skills. Strong communication skills and able to work in a fast paced computerized office environment. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to work as a team and provide professional customer service. Ability to contribute to the development of Bulk business. Desire to communicate with customers on an ongoing basis to ensure customer satisfaction. Experience with Deck activities (preferred) and/or general freight handling. Knowledgeable with Deck dispatch operations preferred.

Physical Requirements

Some of the physical demands may include, but not be limited to: prolonged sitting and looking at a computer screen for long periods etc.
